Free, Ready-to-Use High School Addition and Subtraction Goals

Browse CCS-aligned IEP goals and objectives for addition and subtraction of negative numbers and like terms. This is an algebra standard focused on simplifying expressions, but it also works well for addition and subtraction of negative numbers. Not seeing the grade level or skill you need? • Understand that polynomials form a system analogous to the integers, namely, they are closed under the operations of addition, subtraction, and multiplication; add, subtract, and multiply polynomials. CCSS.Math.Content.HSA.APR.A.1

Given a calculator, Gio can add and subtract negative numbers with 60% accuracy. He can simplify addition and subtraction expressions with like terms with 30% accuracy.

  • Given a calculator, Name will add and subtract polynomials, simplifying addition and subtraction expressions with like terms with 80% accuracy as measured by teacher records and observations  CCSS.Math.Content.HSA.APR.A.1
  • Make it easier: Specify “positive like terms” to eliminate negative numbers.
  • Make it harder: Add in the remainder of the standard so that the student has to multiply and divide as well.
