This game is the conclusion for Unit 4, Speak Up & Step Up. The game reinforces key concepts from each of the five lessons in the unit while giving students a chance to have fun in class.
Lesson Summary & Teaching Notes
Summary: The review game has five questions on each of the five lessons in the unit. There are six all play questions, which require all students to participate as well as individual questions. The game is formatted like jeopardy, but question types include true/false, multiple choice, open-ended, pictionary, charades, and more. There is an answer key for the game and an optional unit conclusion activity as well.
Teaching notes: Students tend to like the game but have difficulty forming and naming groups– we often just create groups for the students to reduce the amount of time lost in choosing groups and names. Also, have the team that draws an All Play go AGAIN after the all play. Elsewise, they get really upset.
Approximate length: 40 minutes
About the curriculum: School success relies on key skills that students are rarely taught. The goal of this curriculum is to level the playing field and to directly teach the executive functioning, self-regulation, and life skills that all students need to succeed in school. Through 20 lessons across four units, this year long curriculum will help students build a foundation for success in school and life– and leave them with an individualized success workbook at the end of the program.
