Looking for a descriptive writing intervention for your writing RTI or special education group? The Descriptive Writing Intervention is easy-to-use intervention program that works well as a writing warm-up for groups!

The placement tests here have been designed to make it easy for you to know which level of our intervention series for special education and RTI groups are a just-right fit for your students.

The packet includes placement tests for three interventions, along with scoring guides and placement tips for each. The three, Common Core aligned interventions in this packet are:

• Word Problem Intervention series: While other programs confuse complexity of computation with linguistic complexity, the workbooks in this program tease the two apart, with levels (1-4) describing the complexity of the computations and parts (A, B, or C) the complexity of the language. With every problem, students are asked to show their work, to write a number sentence, and to explain their reasoning. Level 1 is basic addition and subtraction facts, Level 2 is advanced addition and subtraction, Level 3 introduces multiplication and division problems, and Level 4 focuses on advanced multiplication and division.
• Number Sense and Operations Intervention series: Like the word problem series, this one has twelve workbooks, across four different levels. Each daily practice page includes a a mixture of challenge, focus, and spiral review computation problems, as well as one vocabulary or number sense problem. Like with the word problems, Level 1 is basic addition and subtraction facts, Level 2 is advanced addition and subtraction, Level 3 introduces multiplication and division problems, and Level 4 focuses on advanced multiplication and division.
• Grammar and Complete Sentences Intervention series: This series has four workbooks with 120 sentences for students to edit in each workbook. Level 1 focuses on punctuating single sentences, moving students from end punctuation to proper nouns. Level 2 has students break up two sentences and moves them from proper nouns to contractions. Level 3 has students break up three sentences and moves them from contractions to possessives. Finally, Level 4 has students break up mixed length passages and layers on addresses and dates.
